Technical Assistance
State After School Technical AssistanceThe California Department of Education has developed a statewide system of support for before and after school programs. This support network is made up of CDE Education Programs Consultants and Regional Leads. Members of this network provide training and technical assistance to support California’s before and after school programs in providing safe and educationally enriching environments for children and youth. Region 3 After School Technical AssistanceThe Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) is the After School Technical Assistance Center for Region 3, the Capital Service Region. Region 3 includes the following ten counties: Alpine, Colusa, El Dorado, Nevada, Placer, Sacramento, Sierra, Sutter, Yolo and Yuba. In its role as regional lead, SCOE works to ensure that governmental, educational, and community organizations are aware of the importance of, and effectively support after school initiatives, including work with school districts, city and county government, community-based organizations, the business community, community foundations, colleges and universities, and other types of after school programs. Other responsibilities as regional lead include: providing current information about after school programs and training opportunities, conducting periodic site visits to individual after school program sites, sharing resources and curriculum, and acting as liaison to the CDE After School Partnerships Office and other after school organizations. The regional lead is the first point of contact in accessing services to make after school programs effective. The regional lead also works directly with the CDE After School Education Programs consultant assigned to Region 3.
